We will examine and evaluate a wide range of after-reading activities. In particular, the speaker will show how to exploit the many things that a story does not tell us and how to ‘intervene’ in a story by changing it or adding to it, techniques which ensure that students will think and be creative. We will also borrow some methodology from drama teaching and from CLIL. We will end by suggesting ways to explore connections across cultures and school subjects.

The activities will be exemplified by working on a traditional Scottish story taken from the first book of the World Stories series published by V&V Books.
